Why Honduras?

Why Honduras?

It's easy to understand why Honduras makes you believe you may be dreaming. The clear, gleaming Caribbean, gentle waves lapping at white sand beaches and fresh, salty air tempting you dip your toes in the warm water. Maybe you're just visiting for a limited time, passing through or possibly doing some "research" before considering a purchase of land. Either way, Honduras is most certainly a destination worth checking out. Dreamers and realists alike are discovering that Honduras is a location with a lot to offer. Not only is it filled with natural beauty, but is also very affordable, offers excellent health-care and has virtually no crime. In addition, it has some of the best scuba diving in the world - only second to Australia.

No Shortage of Natural Beauty in Honduras

The scenery in Honduras is incredibly varied. You will find everything from mountains, cloud forests, flatlands and of course the unparalleled Caribbean coastline. Coffee, tobacco, fruit, veggies and wheat are all farmed on the central plateau in Honduras while the Mosquito Coast generates fields of mangroves. Inland, you will find hardwood and mahogany trees thriving in the saturated terrain. Now this all sounds incredibly beautiful, doesn't it? But Honduras has more to offer! The Bay Islands, Islas de la Bhia in Spanish, are approximately 29km's from the mainland and offer a tropical paradise of beaches, warm, turquoise water and some of the best scuba-diving in the world. The island is actually comprised of the tops of an underwater mountain range and includes several developed areas - Utila, Guanaja and Roatan.

Affordability in Honduras

There are several areas of Honduras to consider when visiting or contemplating a long-term stay. There are some regions that are almost unreachable and others that are quite congested, and this goes for the Bay Islands as well. Your preference and imagination are your only limits! Rustic resorts, International chain hotels or if you're looking to build, a simple wood structure or a grandioso Spanish-style villa are all at your disposal. It's very possible to visit on $50-$100 a day, depending on what sort of experiences you wish to take in. Or, if you're dreaming of a more long-term stay, it's entirely possible to live very comfortably on $1500 a month in Honduras.

Honduras is most certainly a country with incredible promise. It's often overlooked when considering a Central American destination, being so close to Costa Rica and Panama - both popular vacation and retirement locations. It's still possible to find affordable locations to build that simple or palatial home or to simply explore, whether with a backpack or in a posh resort.

Living in Honduras is a dream that Where International can help make come true! Paul and Lucia, the developers of Caribbean Lots in Trujillo, would love to show you why Honduras should be an option when you're looking to build your dream home in paradise.
