Reinvent Retirement on Ecuador's Coast

Reinvent Retirement on Ecuador

Retirement is a word that many feel has gone the way of the dodo bird. Unattainable, unseeable… extinct. And almost just as rare is the corporate pension. Once doled out by large companies to deserving, long-serving employees that would never work another job or even imagined themselves doing so.

Boy, the times they are a’changing. Check that… the times have changed.

Today, students are leaving post-secondary school with obscene amounts of debt, moving back in with their parents and surrendering to the melting pot of over-educated coffee shop ‘baristas’. Heck, in some cases the parents are there too! After all, with the kids moving back in, the increased bills have to be paid somehow…

And, not to sound overly dramatic, but with the current state of the US Government, the odds of this progression (or lack thereof) into the workforce doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.

So what’s a person to do? This is where taking your life – and your future – into your own hands comes in. After all, working your entire life to pay off debt that doesn’t seem to go away, only to ‘retire’ and have to supplement your government-funded retirement by working as a greeter at Wal-Mart doesn’t sound overly attractive, does it?

The Land of Opportunity

It used to be that America was the land of new beginnings… of freedom… of opportunity. And don’t get us wrong, for many people from around the world this may very well be true.

But not for everyone. And for those that wish to control their future, as opposed to continue spinning on the hamster-wheel of  (American) life, Ecuador’s coast is a refreshing, rejuvenating, affordable option.

Just the thought of waking up to ocean surf breaking on golden sand, tropical birds fighting for breakfast on your front lawn and a warm, misty breeze blowing in through your open window is enough to make most people jump on a plane! But then there’s the laid-back lifestyle, being surrounded by people that share the same life outlook as you and plenty of opportunities to bring in an income… either to subsidize a pension and keep busy or to earn a living. And the exciting part is that the more popular Ecuador’s coast becomes, the more opportunities arise. Ok, so increased prices for real estate go hand-in-hand with growing popularity, but get in now and you won’t have to worry about that!

Choosing a slow-paced lifestyle on Ecuador’s coast isn’t about ‘escaping’ your home and native land… instead; consider it taking charge of your life and personal well-being. Oh, and also your finances! Because not only is property still incredibly affordable (turn-key homes for under $150,000!), but the low cost of living means you won’t have to stress about how you’re going to pay your next utility bill.

So, what are you waiting for? You don’t need us to tell you that the impending situation happening in the US (which has the high potential to reverberate into other world-wide countries) is dire… but instead of worrying and taking a ‘wait and see’ approach, take charge! And we can’t think of a better way to experience Ecuador’s spectacular coast then on a Discovery Weekend. You’ll have a chance to experience first-hand what your life could be and what you could make it into. Plus, it’s a perfect opportunity to chat with folks that have already made the move.

We’re taught from an early age to accept that we can’t have everything we want… that we have to share or compromise. Thankfully, now that you’re an adult, and you’re considering a property purchase abroad, these ‘rules’ don’t apply.
All your ducks are in a row… you bought a corner lot, with spectacular ocean views in a private community.
We frequently refer to Costa Rica’s southern Nicoya Peninsula as a ‘hidden gem’. Naturally, those already owning and/or living in this tropical oasis would prefer it stays that way…
