Destination Jaco, Costa Rica

The beach in Jaco (Playa Jaco) is one of the most commonly visited locations along the Pacific coast in Costa Rica by both residents and tourists alike. There is no shortage of activities to keep every visitor busy - horseback riding, ATV tours, boat excursions, surfing, deep-sea fishing, cycling, swimming and white-water rafting. Not to mention the various guided options such as the crocodile safari and sea kayaking tours.

Playa Jaco - Convenient and Accessible

Playa Jaco is a 4 km stretch of dark, soft sand. Part of the reason it is so hugely popular is its proximity to Costa Rica's capital city, San Jose. In less then 2 hours you can be out of the hustle and bustle of a major city and be soaking up the sun and surf. Although Jaco has a reputation of being a laid-back beach town, it has all the services any large city in Costa Rica offers. Post office, health centre and major banks are all prevalent in Jaco. Moreover, a variety of accommodation options, surf shops, hopping nightlife and restaurants are available to those travelling or visiting on any budget.

Plenty of Options Near Playa Jaco

Jaco is no doubt a popular hub for folks wishing to visit the Pacific Coast, however, the entire area within close proximity is also part of Jaco's appeal. Just 7 km's north of Playa Jaco is the more tranquil Herradura Beach. Or, check out the black sand on Playa Hermosa, only 10 km's south of Jaco and frequented by surfers from around the world. In fact, the International Quicksilver Championships are held here every August. It's also a great location to view the sea turtles that come ashore to nest each year.
